The Elizabethan time period was the beginning of a new generation of living. It was when people started to say well I can't I lead a fun and interesting life why must I wait for the after life? It was this time period that a lot of the great art work and entertainment came out into the open. It was also this time that William Shakespeare brought his talent into the world. This was also the time of King Henry the eighth, and Queen Elizabeth.
Meals
Most of the meals were made up of meats that were cooked over a spit. Breakfast was light unlike the elaborate dinners or what would have been lunch for us. Food was baked in iron boxes laid over the fire or in brick ovens next to the fire.
The jobs in this time period really varied. They were jobs from bellmen to pub owners to actors. But one of the jobs that was just emerging were the merchants. And with that the wool trade rose and created more jobs for England. And there were always the doctors, they dealt in pain and by no means did they have perfect cures. A couple favorites were bleeding and leeching.
Most of the living conditions were anything but good. The streets were covered with garage, manure and many other lovely treats. Most homes were not much better. Everything was always dirty, even the people thanks to the risk of bathing.
One of the things thanks to Shakespeare that people enjoyed doing were watching plays. They also enjoyed a good drink. And to my disgust, public executions, bear baiting and cock fights.
