Mr. Cimino called the meeting to order at 6:08 pm.
Skyward Review: Mr. Cimino reported that nearly all Jefferson staff will be trained on the Skyward Computer System before Spring Break. The entire JMS staff will be using the system by Fall 2006. The Skyward Computer system is a secure system that allows parents to view information about their child. For example, assignments, attendance and grades can be accessed via a password from a home computer with internet access. Follow-up: Mr. Cimino to recruit families to pilot the system. Computer kiosk to be set-up in office for families without internet access.
Facilities Projects: Awaiting architectural proposals from the district on the Sports Court and Science Room. Follow-up: As they occur.
Microscope Donations: Mariel Plaeger-Brockway reviewed plans for a microscope donation drive. An article appeared in the April edition of the Jag Chronicle soliciting monies for microscope purchases. The goal is to purchase 30 microscopes. Follow-up: Monthly updates.
Residential Artists: Eric Fleming, a local artist and teacher, has been approached about working with interested Jefferson students to repaint various murals throughout the schools. Follow-up: Date to be announced.
WASL Testing: WASL testing will begin the Wednesday after break. Testing will take place between 8:00AM and 10:30Am on the following days.
April 19-20th: 7th and 8th grade testing
April 21st-24th, 25th and 26th: 6th, 7th and 8th grade testing.
The next Site Council meeting is scheduled for May 2, 2006 at 6:00pm. Future agenda topics include: JSSO Budget items 2006-07.
