Site Council

Members Present:  Baranski. J., Brockway, M., Cimino, M., Komoade, S., Smith, K., Swanson, D., Williams, S.

 

Mr. Cimino called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. 

 

30 Day Class Switch Policy- Mr. Cimino requested a review of the 30 day Class Switch policy by the committee.  The purpose of this policy is to delineate a process a student/parent can follow if a change in schedule is to be requested.  Follow-up:  Ad hoc committee to draft a policy for review by school staff and counselor.

 

Community Service Project- JMS achieved second place in the district last year for its conservation efforts.  This year the focus will be on recycling.  Follow- up:  Committee member to work with Mr. Cimino to establish recycling stations throughout the school to be used on designated days.

 

Grading Reports:  Mr. Cimino distributed the 5th grade report cards which are being piloted by LP Brown and Garfield this school year.  The revised reports were developed last year with the collaboration of the 5th and 6th grade teachers.  The committee discussed how to customize the grade reports at the middle school level using the information that is already entered into the Skyward computer system.  Follow-up:  Pursue through OSD district office/Tech Support.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m...

 

The Ad Hoc committee charged with reviewing the 30 Day Class Switch policy held a work meeting after adjournment of the business portion of the Site Council meeting.

 

The next meeting will be held February 6, 2007.
