Guest: Jim Crawford, Asst. Superintendent, Fiscal & Operations

Mr Cimino called the meeting to order at 6:04 pm.

Facilities Projects:  Jim Crawford was introduced.  Mr. Crawford gave an overview of the 3 projects, financed by the 2003 Bond, that are to be completed at Jefferson.    These include:  Roof repair (funded for $311,000), Science Room remodel (funded for $83,000), and Sports Court (funded for $60,000).  Tentative plans exist for these projects and bids will go out shortly.  All projects will hopefully be completed by the end of summer 2006.  Bids for other district projects continue to come in high due to inflation and other economic factors and subsequently some options and equipment have been cut. Mr. Crawford also explained the distinction between funding capital and operating expenditures.   Follow-up:  Updates as they occur.  The committee discussed fund raising options and how to structure student involvement.  An article is to appear in the Jefferson newsletter soliciting donations.  JSSO is to be contacted regarding fundraising.

Grade Reporting:  Mr. Cimino reported that 5th and 6th grade Westside teachers have discussed the current grading system/report cards and if the current system could be improved. Grading that would help 5th graders move into middle school is a goal.   Members discussed the pros and cons of the current system and reviewed report card examples from two other districts.  Follow Up:  Updates as they occur.

The next Site Council meeting is scheduled for March 7, 2006 at 6:00pm.  Future agenda topics include: Health curriculum and Physical Education program.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32p.m.
