Jefferson MSDear Jefferson Middle School community,

Over the past month, we engaged in a thoughtful and collaborative process to select the next principal of Jefferson Middle School. This process included gathering input from students, families and staff through surveys, as well as opportunities to meet candidates and share feedback. We are grateful to everyone who took the time to share their perspectives. Your input helped guide this important decision.

After careful consideration, we are pleased to announce that Janet Hubbard has been selected as the next principal of Jefferson Middle School, pending board approval.

Janet currently serves as Interim Assistant Principal at Reeves Middle School and brings more than two decades of experience as a teacher, instructional leader and school administrator. Before joining Olympia School District, she served as an elementary principal in Aberdeen, Assistant Head of School at NOVA Middle School, where she helped lead the academic program and support faculty development, and also worked for North Thurston Public Schools and the Houston Independent School District. Within Olympia School District, she has also worked at Olympia Regional Learning Academy and completed administrative internships at ORLA and Thurgood Marshall Middle School.

Janet is known for her thoughtful leadership, strong relationships with students and staff and her commitment to building positive, supportive school communities.

“I am honored to join the Jefferson Middle School community,” Hubbard said. “Middle school is an important time in students’ lives, and I look forward to working alongside the dedicated staff, students and families at Jefferson to support learning, connection and a strong sense of belonging for every student.”

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mick Hart for his leadership and service as Interim Principal during the 2025–26 school year. His steady guidance has been an important part of supporting the Jefferson community during this transition.

We are excited to welcome Janet to the Jefferson community and look forward to the leadership she will bring to the school.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in this process and for your continued support of Jefferson Middle School.
