Welcome Back Jags and Families

🐾 JagWire Principal’s Notes 2026-2027
9/4/2026
Congratulations, Jefferson Families! Whether your child is in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade, a milestone has been completed - they have successfully started the school year and embarked on a new grade level! Just in this very short week, we have seen students helping one another in many ways, reconnecting and making new friendships, bravely trying new classes and new activities, and rising to the opportunities presented to them. Our teachers have noticed that students are showing up and putting effort into making good first impressions, that they are self-advocating for what they need this school year, and they are adapting to new expectations - whether they are new to the school or returning! We have many adults offering support in the hallways as students find classrooms and establish routines, and we will continue that support as we settle into the year.
Some of the changes at Jefferson involve shifts in how we start our day - gathering first in the Library and Cafeteria before halls open, and with phones off and away from the start. This way of starting our day has gone well, and we still get a good 15 minutes of social time in the morning. Beyond that time, we are focused on using our class time well, having smooth transitions and an orderly lunch followed by some relaxation in Homeroom, and then returning to focused class time.
I hope you’re hearing some growing confidence at home - because students are bravely walking through their new schedules and routines, and forming new relationships with teachers and classmates to support their learning this year. They have a lot to be proud of in how they’ve started the year!
Have a great long weekend, and we will see you back on Tuesday, September 8!
