Principal Note

Happy weekend, Jaguar families!
We had a great week - adapting to our new schedule, following some new patterns like having Jag Time in the afternoon, and starting to get some of our favorite community experiences in place: choices… and the Student Store! Thank you to the JSSO for getting the store up and running. Students enjoyed the opportunity to get some things, and to plan ahead for future Fridays!
All students should have chromebook access now. For 6th graders, that’s during the day at school and then returned to 6th period teachers. For 7th and 8th graders, they have chromebooks that are for school purposes and should be charged at home and ready for school each morning.
We hope you have a great weekend, and we look forward to our first full-length school week next week!

Jefferson Middle School Family Newsletter
September 11, 2026
Welcome back, Jaguars! 💜🩶 We are off to a great start, and we are excited for another great year at Jefferson! Here are a few important reminders and updates for our JMS families.

🚌 ACTIVITIES BUS IS RUNNING!
Our Activities Bus is now running! 🐾
Students on the West Side will be dropped off at the same stop where they are picked up in the morning.
For students who live on the East Side, the Activities Bus will drop students off at the following JAMS shuttle stops:
  • Roosevelt
  • Madison
  • ORLA
  • WMS
  • Lincoln
Students using the Activities Bus will need to know which stop they should get off at and have arrangements in place to get home safely from that location.
Please talk with your student ahead of time so they know their designated stop and what their plan is once they arrive.

📸 SCHOOL PICTURES
📅 Thursday, September 17
Say cheese, Jaguars! 📸🐾
School pictures will be taken on Thursday, September 17, during students’ Science classes.

📝 MAP TESTING IS COMING!
📅 September 22–October 16
MAP testing will begin on Tuesday, September 22, and continue through October 16.
Students will take MAP assessments during their Math and English classes, with their classroom teachers administering the testing.
📌 Families should hear directly from their student’s teachers about when their student will be participating in MAP testing.
Please encourage your student to do their best, take their time, and show us what they know! 🐾💜

📊 PANORAMA SURVEY COMING SEPTEMBER 24
📅 September 24
Our Panorama Survey will be sent out to families on Thursday, September 24.
Your feedback is an important part of helping Jefferson Middle School understand how our students and families are doing and how we can continue to improve our school community.
💜 We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!
