What a fantastic week we’ve had! Many students rose to the occasion during Jag Time this week and did missing assignments, connected with teachers for more information, and generally tended to responsibilities. Those practices are so important in the middle school years, as students set habits that will continue to set them up for success. Well done, Jaguars! 

Additionally, our AVID students had the opportunity to visit both LP Brown Elementary and Garfield Elementary for reading field trips! Jefferson students were welcomed as reading leaders and reported back to us that while the younger students were excited to have them there, they were also sometimes hard to keep focused! Thank you to Mr.McKaughan and our AVID teachers for helping facilitate a great learning opportunity!

And finally, we also had our first Homeroom Highlights Assemblies by Grade Level during our Friday Jag Time this week. Our Jag Crew students chose the first theme of the year, and it’s an impressive one: preparedness! Students recognized in Homeroom Highlights Assemblies receive a sweatshirt printed by our Material Tech students with a chosen quotation illustrating the theme. This month, the quotation was from Oprah Winfrey:

Our Jefferson School Support Organization (JSSO) has partnered with Barnes & Noble for a fun LEGO Build Book Fair!

Thanks to our amazing Jaguar community, last spring's event raised over $850 to purchase new books and games for our library!

🧱 Didn't reserve a Harvest LEGO set? No problem!

A limited selection of LEGO sets from previous events will be available for families who were unable to reserve a set in advance.

Bring the family, enjoy some LEGO fun, and help us continue building an amazing library for our students!

🗓️💜 PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES — OCTOBER 26–30

Conference week is here!

Parent-teacher conferences are a wonderful opportunity to connect with teachers, celebrate student successes, and discuss academic progress.

Students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM, Monday through Friday, October 26–30.

Monday's virtual conferences are intended for families who are unable to attend in person.

Arena-style conferences are drop-in conferences that do not require an appointment!

Parents and guardians can stop by Jefferson during scheduled conference hours and visit their student's teachers in any order. Teachers will be available at designated locations for brief conversations about student progress. If a teacher is busy, families can wait or visit another teacher and return.

We look forward to seeing our Jaguar families and working together to support student success! 💜🐾

Looking for something fun to do after school?

The South Sound YMCA THRIVE Program, in partnership with Ultimate Frisbee Olympia, is hosting a FREE Ultimate Frisbee workshop!

Students of all skill levels are welcome to learn throwing and catching skills, practice teamwork, and enjoy friendly scrimmages!

School dismisses at 12:15 PM. Students attending the workshop may stay on campus and eat lunch in the cafeteria before the workshop begins at 1:00 PM.

👟 What to Bring: Water bottle, athletic shoes or cleats, and comfortable outdoor clothing.

🚗 Pickup: 5:15 PM

Students must be enrolled in the FREE YMCA THRIVE Afterschool Program to participate.

The holiday season is approaching, and we want to ensure our Jaguar families have the support they need.

Jefferson Middle School is partnering with 4 The Love Foundation to provide Thanksgiving food boxes to families who would benefit from additional assistance.

Includes a frozen, uncooked turkey, side dishes, rolls, and pie.

Includes bread, bagels, rice, beans, cereal, spaghetti noodles and sauce, peanut butter, jelly, apples, and cookies.

Jefferson Middle School is proud to honor the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

We invite students who have family members currently serving in the military or who are veterans to invite those family members to join us for this special assembly.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our Jaguar community to come together, show our appreciation, and recognize the dedication and sacrifices of our military families.
